Beautiful baroque peninsular

Siracusa Sicily

Ortigia is widely recognised as the capital of the baroque south east. Surrounded on all sides by the lovely Mediterranean it has a great choice of lovely piazzas, stunning architecture, great restaurants and a good choice of shops.

Walking around on foot

It’s really easy to get around on foot everywhere in Ortigia; our four star hotel, the Algila, is perfectly located in the old town and makes everywhere easy to reach.

It’s an ideal spot to take a short break at any time of the year or a stay as part of a wider multi centre holiday in Sicily.

A perfect destination for couples wanting to explore a really well kept yet still very authentic part of Sicily.

Gateway to the south east ‘baroque’

Just south of Siracusa/Ortigia there are some lovely sandy beaches, such as ‘Fontane Bianche’ and some lovely stretches of protected coastline such as the Plemmirio and Vendicari nature reserve.

Ortigia provides a great base to take day trips into the heart of the baroque area with the lovely towns of Noto, Modica and Ragusa within easy reach by car.
