A buzz in summer, more tranquil in spring and autumn

Boka Bay Perast1

Montenegro has few islands and two of them are right here, opposite Perast and can be visited.
An incredibly pretty place with the surrounding grey of Kotor bay stone touching the blue Adriatic. There’s a feeling of style due to the historic centre which is only small.
In short
• Perast is only small, you can walk the length of the waterfront in 15 minutes
• The tiny islands of Our Lady of the Rocks (artificial) and Saint Georges Island are right in front of Perast, easy to visit by boat
• Every year on 22 July, the ‘fasinada’ festival sees locals take to their boats and throw rocks into the sea (replicating how Our Lady of the Rocks island was created)
• Close to famous Kotor town to visit and enjoy it yet a short distance away with a more seaside feel
• The town museum has some interesting Roman mosaics
• Excellent  seafront restaurants (including fish restaurants) to suit all tastes, some are right over the water
• There are day trips out by yacht sailing the Kotor Bay
• Note that there is no large beach at Perast  - our featured hotel Iberostar Heritage Grand Perast has a long, decked beach type area. There is also a small pebble beach near to the road entrance to Perast
• July and August can be crowded. June, September and October are wonderful months
• Perfect for couples and adults.
