Close to historic, walled, Alcudia

Alcudia Beach

The popularity of this resort stems from the enormous Alcudia beach which is 3½ kms long, and it’s very wide in parts too.

Families holiday in Mallorca so well here as the shallow water makes it ideal for children to splash about in.  To enjoy a swim adults may have to walk out quite a way to find deeper water, but the option to watch the little ‘uns from the comfort of your sunbed may prove too attractive at times!

This is a busy spot in peak summer months and although the beach by Port d’Alcudia doesn’t have the best sand it is a good area for cafés, shops and restaurants.  The sand is silky soft as you head towards Playa de Muro and you will find quieter spots in this direction.

If (or when) you tire of the beach, the ancient town of Alcudia is 3 kms away by bus or car.  Here visitors will find a perfectly restored walled city on the site of a Roman settlement.  Historical sites abound here.  Originally built in the 14th century, the church of Sant Jaume is a gem.  The Teatre Roma is an intact Roman theatre, the smallest in the whole of Spain.  The old Arab quarter, museums and mansions may also beckon.

Modern gastronomic restaurants can be found in neaby Alcudia
