Lake Garda's most famous resort

Desenzano del Garda 200x240

It’s one of the few towns on Lake Garda that lives year round; an important hub visited throughout the year by many Italians from the nearby cities of Verona, Brescia and Milan.

With an impressive waterfront location, lovely piazzas and attractive pedestrianised centre you can spend ages just wandering around, stopping to peer up cobbled alleyways leading to the medieval castle, browsing the numerous upmarket boutiques or simply lazing at one of the many trendy cafés and watching the world go by.

Given the Mediterranean feel here, the palm lined piazzas and the smart marinas, you could easily be forgiven for thinking you had landed on the French Riviera…..on Sundays enjoy watching the locals promenading in their stylish clothes and showing off in their Ferraris!

More exploring

There’s something here for everyone however; go back centuries to discover an intriguing Roman villa with its rich mosaics, or walk up to the medieval castle boasting wonderful views across terracotta rooftops and the lake towards Sirmione. Take a leisurely steamer to the nearby resorts of Salò, Gardone Riviera and Sirmione. Shop till you drop at Desenzano’s magnificent street market on Tuesday mornings or indulge in one of the best artisanal ice creams you’ll eat in Italy at ‘Gelateria La Romana’…

Perfect for both a longer stay and short break Desenzano provides a fantastic base for those looking for an authentic Italian atmosphere in a lively town with plenty of facilities.
