Sample the excellent quality of the fresh produce that the Canary Islands have to offer in and around one of the most lovely Tenerife resorts, Royal Garden Villas. Home to the simply fine-dining Jardín Restaurant and the comfortable, Tucan Tucan pub, these charming villas will certainly inspire the travelling gastronomist.
At Home at Royal Garden Villas
Located in a secluded area of Costa Adeje, Royal Garden Villas are a collection of luxurious private homes, each with their own pool and fully furnished kitchen and sitting room. For a chill-out holiday, these apartments are perfect for spending some quality time away and, of course, enjoying the fantastic food this island has to offer.
Restaurant Jardín, a highlight of the villas, values authenticity and aspires to deliver the best dishes from its wide range of local produce. Its characteristic menu charmingly names its plates after well-known classic novels, and I can report that whether you sample Moby Dick, An American in Paris or The Old Man and the Sea, your taste buds will be as satisfied as your sense of humour. It will come as no surprise to diners that the enigmatic head chef of the Jardín loves to express his creative nature in his food.
Tucan Tucan Pub
For a relaxed evening with a welcoming ambience, head to the Tucan Tucan, also onsite at this Tenerife resort. Enjoy expertly mixed cocktails in the company of your fellow travellers. Head here before or after your dinner for a wind down after a long day exploring the island.
Explore the Island
Once you’ve had your fill of the resort’s restaurants, head out to one of the many quality eateries for which Costa Adeje is known. I have dined in enough places here to recommend the area to my clients who are looking for a gourmet experience. Whether you are keen to sample world foods, be it Japanese, Indian, Asian or the regional flavours of the Canaries, Costa Adeje boasts a restaurant for you.
Monkey Bar & Grill Restaurant
The Monkey Bar & Grill is the place to go for a steak and a cocktail or two. Its superb meat cuts have earned both local and national praise, and you must be sure to leave space for one of their homemade desserts (my personal favourite is the Dolce Vita).
Buenavida Vegan Restaurant
If you like to steer clear of meat, or just fancy a wonderfully healthy but tasty meal, this more casual but simply unbeatable vegan restaurant is perfect. Somewhat of a hidden gem, the staff produce flavoursome food in a friendly, comfortable atmosphere. The menu has some intriguing dishes; the raw lasagne with cashew cheese is not to be missed!
