If you’re looking for a place to lay back in the lap of luxury, enjoy excellent weather and play on some world-class golf courses, look no further than Marbella. After reading about these three great resorts, you’ll be itching to book your holiday as soon as you can.
With the Mediterranean on one side and the Sierra Blanca foothills on the other, Marbella’s natural beauty has made it hugely popular. It’s also become one of the best places in Europe to work on your handicap, with the Nuevo Andalusia region even nicknamed ‘Golf Valley’.
On the ‘Golden Mile’ between Marbella and Puerto Banus, this hotel offers a staggering range of amenities. Guests can enjoy massages and herbal wellness treatments at the new Six Senses Spa, swim in landscaped open-air pools, and work up a sweat on state-of-the-art TechnoGym equipment in the Fitness Centre.
With 14 restaurants to its name, it’s easy to feel spoilt for choice. I recommend either the exquisite Italian restaurant Serafina or Chef Dani Garcia’s two-Michelin-starred highlight.
Golfers have access to the Marbella Club Golf Resort as well as over 50 other nearby courses.
Puente Romano’s architecture is inspired by traditional Andalusian styles, all oak floors and arch entrances, high ceilings and tiles. Rooms are located throughout 27 three-storey buildings dotted around the gardens, and come with air-conditioning, a minibar, satellite TV, wifi and a safe.
If you really want to indulge, consider one of the imperial or royal suites. These have their own separate living rooms and were recently redecorated by designer Andrew Martin.

Iberostar Marbella Coral Beach
With a variety of bars and restaurants, a private beach, a spa and a choice of two swimming pools, Coral Beach has everything you could want to enjoy your time away. Revitalising and relaxation treatments are available in the spa, which also boasts a jacuzzi and Turkish bath – the perfect way to unwind after a day on the course or a workout in the resort gym.
While Iberostar lacks its own course, all guests are eligible for reduced fees and reservations to many of the excellent ones nearby.
Most rooms are standard twin or double rooms, but you can upgrade to a suite or junior suite if you want a separate sitting area. Balconies offer views of the gardens, pool or mountains, and you can pay extra for a partial sea view. Air-conditioning, satellite TV, a safe and a minibar all come as standard, of course.

Marbella Club Hotel Golf Resort & Spa
Puente Romano’s sister hotel, Marbella Club offers guests access to Puente’s course as well as deals on others nearby and its own 18-hole course. It has a quieter atmosphere, with several restaurants offering candlelit meals, champagne and more.
Two freshwater pools are available, as well as one indoor pool filled with seawater. This along with the Marbella Club Thalasso Spa give guests the chance to experience thalassotherapy – a traditional technique using seawater. It must be experienced to be believed: you’ll emerge feeling truly renewed.
Intimate, warm décor makes the luxury bedrooms on offer here feel like home, and features such as free wifi, air-conditioning and a minibar only add to your comfort. Those who really want to splash out should consider one of the 14 villas, many of which come with private pools.
