Many Canary Islands have become popular destinations for all types of traveller, but at Prestige Holidays, we believe holidays in Lanzarote should be at the top of your bucket list if you’re travelling with your family. Read on to find out more about one of my favourite Lanzarote resorts.
If you’re thinking about booking a Lanzarote getaway as a half term treat for the kids or a classic summer adventure, you should look no further than Playa de los Pocillos. This laid-back town is the ideal escape for those looking for something a little less tourist-based, but still allows you to enjoy activities associated with a classic Canarian holiday. This resort really is made for families.
A Day at the Beach
You can’t have a family holiday without spending a day or two at a beach, and Lanzarote resorts provide some of the most beautiful shorelines in the Canary Islands. The sandy, east-coast beach of Playa de los Pocillos is ideal for those looking to soak up the sun, paddle in the calm sea or enjoy some of the more adventurous water activities such as windsurfing. Water sports enthusiasts enjoy the light breeze and tranquil sea that this beach provides, and these features also make it a great spot for children or adult beginners to try out a new sport.
Venture Further Afield
Though the resort itself offers its own attractions, many travellers enjoy heading out on additional day trips during their holiday. The huge array of exciting destinations surrounding the resort makes choosing a day trip that suits your family’s individual interests quite a simple task – I can recommend Yaiza or Teguise for culture-fuelled day trips, and Arrecife if you’re looking to purchase some handcrafted souvenirs.
If your family enjoy exploring areas of natural beauty, you should not miss a trip to Timanfaya National Park. The gorgeous landscape is made up of semi-dormant volcanos and interesting lava formations – there’s no place quite like it.
Out for Dinner
Spend some quality time with your loved ones and enjoy a delicious meal at one of the many restaurants around Playa de los Pocillos. Lanzarote resorts are known for their diverse restaurant scene, so you’re sure to discover a cuisine that the whole family will love. I would encourage you to choose a spot overlooking the sea – the views are sure to enhance your dining experience. There are plenty of options for this located on the main promenade.
Where to Stay
For accommodation to meet all your holiday needs, I can personally recommend Seaside Los Jameos Playa – especially if you’re travelling with children. The hotel offers plenty of amenities including both spa facilities and babysitting, so a relaxing holiday will finally be attainable! With connecting rooms, a children’s club and the main beach just a short walk away, the entire family can truly make the most of this resort.
