Treating your family to a holiday in Lanzarote during autumn half term has more perks than you might think. Plus, with our recommended day excursions, you’ll find that there’s more to the island than meets the eye. Find out what these fantastic family day trips could bring to your holiday.
Lanzarote is simply stunning, and unsurprisingly, it is a popular summer holiday destination for families. However, we at Prestige Holidays are certain that this Spanish sanctuary has just as much to offer in the autumn.
Why Skip the Summer?
Popular tourist spots can often seem rather overwhelming during the peak summer months, and finding a quiet beach to entertain the little ones can be almost impossible. Personally, I enjoy Lanzarote during autumn when there are fewer crowds so that I can fully appreciate the island’s natural beauty.
For families in particular, the climate is also an important factor to consider. Travelling abroad in the height of summer can often leave you with uncomfortable children with red noses, so a trip slightly later in the year when the heat is less intense is perfect.
Last but not least, travelling in autumn gives you the opportunity to experience the fantastic family-friendly events that are taking place on the island. Here are our favourites:
Lanza Event Cruiser
This event is the perfect day trip that can truly bring families together. Just a thirteen-minute drive from Seaside Los Jameos Playa Resort, you can enjoy this interactive volcano tour and have time to relax over a delicious meal at the hotel restaurant when you return in the evening.
The tour boasts several thrilling surprises for the children along the way, including earth, fire and water simulations and an optional camel ride. Wander through the Timanfaya National Park and admire the fantastic volcano landscape, all the while learning about plate tectonics and the park’s vast history.
Ángaro is a remarkable family experience, exclusively available in the later months of the year. It is a musical extravaganza showcasing Canarian traditions and celebrating the diverse culture. It never fails to bring all of the locals together, and is consistently popular due to its unique location: the heart of a volcano. The stimulating sounds of this music festival will inspire young minds, and will no doubt widen their knowledge of Canarian history and culture. The lively atmosphere of Ángaro is definitely something to be enjoyed together.
The event takes place just over half an hour from Seaside Los Jameos Playa Resort, but if you’re thinking about staying at Roca Nivaria Gran Hotel the journey will be substantially longer. Since the event is definitely worth a visit, perhaps consider attending before or after your holiday as part of your journey to or from the airport.
Where to Stay
The ideal location for these attractions is Seaside Los Jameos Playa Resort which offers fantastic accommodation for families with a number of amenities nearby. Entertainment for children is provided during the day at the Children’s Club, and there are also some family-friendly events in the evenings.
