The opulently designed Westin Dragonara Resort is a hotel in Malta that offers comfort and luxury in equal measure. We believe that the atmosphere here provides the perfect mix of family-friendly fun and adult indulgence.
While there are 340 rooms in this stunning hotel, we highly recommend that, when travelling with a family, you choose to stay in one of the newly renovated Luxury Bay Suites. Right on the edge of the water, these apartments have either one or two bedrooms, a communal living area, a dining space and a small kitchen, ideal for self-catering.
If you prefer to stay in the hotel, the twin rooms have two double beds and accommodate two children under 13 years old. If you choose the pre-booked meal plan for the main restaurant, children up to twelve years eat free.
We appreciate how tricky feeding youngsters can be when you are away from home. The restaurants here are varied and range from the family Terrace Restaurant to more specialist eateries. Palio’s is a personal favourite. Its informal atmosphere, which suits the children, is made even more ideal by the exquisite dishes served here.
Apart from the outdoor and indoor pools and the private lidos, this resort has lots of other leisure activities for children. The Westin Kid’s Club has been set up for children aged three to twelve and offers a whole host of activities that will keep the young ones busy. There is a play area, a games rooms and lots more.
Book the children in to play for a few hours and you will have a chance to make the most of the rest of the resort. Why not get involved in a little dive training at the PADI diving school, work out in the health and fitness suite, enjoy a luxury beauty treatment or simply relax on a lounger with your favourite book?
Family Days Out
Explore the Esplora
A wonderful science museum that was built to encourage youngsters and adults alike to open their scientific minds, Esplora aims to evoke questions and get children thinking and imagining. Discover the hands-on workshops, fabulous science shows, landscaped gardens and incredible exhibits.
The Escape Rooms
There are a variety of nearby escape rooms where you can play games as a family and work together as a team to take on challenges, solve mysteries, find clues and do puzzles, all in an attempt to ‘escape the room’ within an hour! However, it is worth mentioning that there is nothing sinister or scary about these escape rooms. On the contrary they have been set up to create a space where families can enjoy baffling challenges.
Sandy Mellieha Bay, one of the most stunning beaches you’ll encounter on your Malta holiday, is calm, shallow and safe for children. The water stays ankle deep for almost 50 metres, has no undercurrents and is hardly ever subjected to rough seas, so it is very popular with families. There are plenty of water sport activities on offer here too, both adult- and child-friendly. While you have a go at water skiing, your other half can take the children to play on the blow up water platform.
