With balmy weather, top beaches and fantastic resorts, Croatia has been the ultimate holiday destination for families for a number of years now. Here at Prestige, we know that a hotel can make or break a family holiday, so I’ve chosen some of the best resorts for family holidays in Croatia.
Valamar Club Tamaris Family Resort
When you see the Valamar Club Tamaris, it is no wonder that it has won awards for outstanding service. The resort sits along the Lanterna Peninsula and is home to no fewer than five pristine beaches. There are plenty of accommodation options: family rooms with sea views, exclusive apartments, luxury villas on the seafront.
For fun in the water, there is a children’s pool with a water slide, a relaxation pool and private pools accompanying all the villas. Parents can try the many sports and activities on offer, whilst the children can spend hours exploring the vast Maro Play Zone, boasting 1,900m² of educational and recreational space. The kids are guaranteed to return exhausted at the end of the day.
Valamar Club Dubrovnik
Just 15 minutes’ bus ride from the centre and 150m from Copacabana beach, the Valamar Club Dubrovnik is the only hotel in the whole of Dubrovnik that caters especially towards families. There are special activity programmes for both adults and children, separate swimming pools, and an atmospheric open air cinema. In the evening, gather to watch professional singers and dancers give some fantastic performances. You can even get involved with some of the dance programmes they hold.
Personally I think the best benefit of this hotel is the children’s buffet in the corner or the restaurant – an absolute godsend for parents dealing with picky eaters. Having said that, I am also a big fan of the all-inclusive light service that provides free drinks during mealtimes.
Family rooms are available here with views of either the sea or the park.
The newly refurbished Valmar Zagreb is a simply fabulous resort located just a stone’s throw away from old town of Poreč. There are numerous stunning pebble beaches here, but for those looking for an action-packed family holiday in Croatia, the countryside is the real ace of this resort. Leave the children to enjoy themselves at the Maro Club whilst you take full advantage of some of the outdoor activities such as cycling tours to the Baredine Cave and the Lim Chanel, or hiking in the surrounding Poreč nature. If you just want some relaxation, head to the resort’s purpose built Wellness Centre, where you can relax in steam baths and infrared saunas, or just look out over the idyllic horizon of Borik Beach.
For fun for the whole family, there are tennis courts on site, as well table tennis and even mini golf. Save the best till last and head to the new show cooking restaurant in the evening. Here you can see all the dishes prepared right in front of your eyes, and enjoy drinks at sunset from the stunning panoramic terrace.
The standard family rooms here accommodate up to 4 people, and superior family suites up to 6.
