Family Hotels in Makarska
Croatia’s incredible landscape, especially around Makarska, lends itself perfectly to outdoor pursuits. Energetic visitors will love the activities on offer: tennis, swimming, rock climbing, cycling and hiking are right on the doorstep, as are a plethora water sports just waiting to be discovered. Not only is this spot bursting with opportunities for discovery, it has some wonderful accommodation options that offer the perfect base from which to get out and explore.
A ten-minute walk along the pleasant beach from town, Hotel Meteor comes highly recommended by the Prestige team. It benefits from both an indoor and outdoor pool, as well as being close to the sea for a refreshing dip. For those wanting to get out and explore further afield, why not don the trainers and head out on foot to the Biokovo Nature Reserve, which we believe is definitely worth a visit. Encompassing the towering mountain that rises above the town, the reserve has numerous paths that weave in and out of a beautiful landscape. A half-hour drive is all that is required to get you up to the snowy peaks of Biokovo where the views are unsurpassed.
Another delightful spot to base yourself when visiting Makarska is the Hotel Dalmacija. Apart from the great location, this place offers daily swimming classes, as well as Pilates classes and aqua-aerobics for guests who don’t want to miss their weekly exercise fix.
When I stayed here, I thought that the fridge in the room was very useful, especially for keeping snacks and drinks cool, and the ample storage is a real plus point.
For a great day out, I can recommend the boat trip from Makarska Harbour to Hvar and Bol – an excellent trip!
We really like the apartment layout of this hotel. Most apartments sleep four to six people, are spacious and are well equipped for self-catering, which can be a real help when travelling in groups. Although it’s perfectly possible to cook for yourselves, the restaurants are excellent and al fresco dining at this hotel is a real pleasure, with one of the area’s best chefs is at the helm.
Free Wi-Fi is always helpful, as is the spa, sauna, Turkish steam room and gym. With all this on site and the beach only a three-minute walk away, it is hard to believe that you might need more to keep yourselves occupied. If you do, however, we think that hiring a bike and heading off on one of the cycling trails is a great option in Makarska.
