Many of us chose our holiday destinations based on what a certain region has to offer. However, I’ve experienced accommodation so outstanding that you can plan a trip around it. Let me introduce you to three hotels that are worth getting on a plane for.
Contemporary Design on the Continent
Today I want to share with you three of the most creatively designed hotels we have in our collection at Prestige Holidays. These properties combine the best of high end travel – fine dining, seclusion and privacy and matchless service – with impressive contemporary design. So if you’re craving some sunshine in a stylish setting, just get in touch with our friendly advisors for more information. Best of all, you don’t have to travel for hours and hours to find these gems – my picks can all be found just a short plane ride from the UK.
La Isla y el Mar
This stunning hotel on the island of Lanzarote is a wonderful combination of bright whites, polished volcanic stone and the endless deep blue sky. The four-star, all-suite complex has a five-star feel due to its impeccable design. From the cool greys and turquoises in the bedrooms to the intricate ceiling fresco in the restaurant, I was continually impressed with the hotel’s presentation and design.
La Isla y el Mar offers guests views across the Atlantic Ocean to Fuerteventura and “Lobos” Island, as well as a range of luxury amenities including:
- The Wellness and Beauty Centre where you can receive treatments such as facials, massages and body rituals
- Two swimming pools along with a Jacuzzi, steam bath and sauna
- The Fitness Centre which is furnished with top of the range technology and equipment
Lido Palace, looking out over Lake Garda, finds a peaceful balance between the historic and the contemporary. The elegant Art Nouveau building is decorated in a tasteful modern manner which allows original nineteenth-century features, such as the impressive Liberty style staircase, to shine through whilst giving space to modern design, like the large glass atrium which houses the reception.
The Lido Palace is known for its excellent restaurants. A personal favourite of mine is the Il Re della Busa. I have fond memories of enjoying Chef Giuseppe Sestito’s divine tasting menu on the peaceful terrace by candle light. The Lido Palace’s other offerings, the Tremani Bistrot and the Bali Bar, provide guests with the best food and drink from the Mediterranean.
Design Hotel Navis
Though Croatia is home to many enchanting, contemporary design hotels, we think that the five-star Design Hotel Navis is one of the best. With only 44 rooms, it has a feeling of peaceful privacy which guarantees a relaxing stay.
“Contemporary living never looked so good!”
The structure has a maritime theme which, far from being kitsch, works in harmony with the building’s sleek architecture. Think Venetian polished concrete, luxurious textiles in purple and red and unlimited sea views. A bonus for art-lovers is the range of works by local artists commissioned by the hotel and on display throughout the building.
