Paphos is rich in history

Prestige Holidays have a number of hotels in the resort of Paphos.  All are on the coast and all have beach access. Our hotels are located either in town, or on the outskirts.

In recent years Paphos has grown into a popular resort with an attractive fishing harbour lined with restaurants and a good airport. The range of shops and restaurants is very good, but what makes Paphos so different is the remarkable amount of history it has. Paphos is a good starting point for day trips to Pissouri, Limassol, Akamas Peninsula and the Troodos mountains – visit traditional Cypriot villages and restaurants.

History abounds in Paphos – you will find a different attraction at every turn. Near Old Paphos is the mythical birthplace of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and beauty, this made Paphos an important place for worshipping Aphrodite in the ancient world.

In Greco-Roman times Paphos was the island's capital, and it is famous for the remains of the Roman governor's palace, where extensive, fine mosaics are a major tourist attraction. The town of Paphos is included in the official UNESCO list of cultural and natural treasures of the world's heritage. Historical sites also include Paphos Castle, The Tomb of the Kings, Paphos Amphitheatre and more.

Lower and Upper Paphos

Paphos has two parts – old Paphos and the new town down on the coast.  Up in the old town you will find a thriving market where you can buy everything form souvenirs to fresh fruit, vegetables and fresh fish. Old Paphos also offers high street boutiques, sandwich and coffee shops and a variety of other tradesmen dotted throughout the town. The new town is where you find all the holiday accommodation, restaurants, bars, nightlife and of course Paphos harbour.

Paphos enjoys a subtropical-Mediterranean climate with well over 300 sunny days a year, with the mildest temperatures on the island. The typical summer's season lasts from April to November, although in March and December temperatures may also reach 20 °C, in July and August temperatures can be as high 34°C, so perfect for sun worshippers.

There are four good courses locally, Tsada, Secret Valley, Aphrodite Hills and the Elea Golf Club, designed by Nick Faldo, all within driving distance of Paphos. Handicap Certificates required. We have full details including golf packages, do please ask.
