Tall spires next to pastel coloured houses

Lopud Croatia

The Island of Lopud is the second island in the Elaphiti chain that you reach after leaving Dubrovnik on the local ferry.  It is traffic free except for the occasional service vehicle which has to creep along the seafront.

As you arrive by ferry, there are churches and spires nestling among the tall palm trees next to pastel coloured houses or stone cottages.  As with so many of Croatia’s small islands, Lopud has a strong seafaring tradition which can be seen in some of the old captains’ houses.

Lopud is both the name of the island and the main village where we feature the imposing Lafodia Sea resort.

A path leads you over the hill to the long sandy Sunj beach where there is a beach bar and sunbeds for hire.  This island is for those looking for a tranquil experience within a 50 minute ferry ride from Dubrovnik.
