Parks, Fort Hamilton & Front Street

Hamilton Bermuda

As capitals go, Hamilton is a neat and compact area to enjoy on foot.  Start on Front Street for luxury shopping for top end clothes, perfumes, cosmetics, jewellery and watches, and there are some great bargains too!  Try Reid and Church Streets too for more choices.

Restaurants cater for all tastes including excellent seafood, Thai, Oriental and Egyptian speciality restaurants and good quality pub grub.  Sample at least one Dark ‘n’ Stormy, a heady mix of Black Seal rum and ginger beer.

The Ferries

The Hamilton Ferry Terminal is very central and ferries run from here to Royal Naval Dockyard, Rockaway and in summer to historic St George’s.  This really is the best way to enjoy the beauty of the islands, although buses from the capital cover the whole island very well too.

In town sightseeing

For some excellent sightseeing head up King Street to visit Fort Hamilton for stunning views over the city and the harbour. The Cabinet Building and the Sessions House are the home of Bermuda’s government, both open to visitors.  The Cathedral, the National Gallery in City Hall and a couple of gorgeous parks will prove a haven for tired city explorers.

Our properties here

We recommend the large historic Fairmont Hamilton Princess on the water’s edge, or the delightful and traditional Rosedon for superb hospitality.  We also love the Royal Palms with an excellent restaurant and lovely gardens.
