A lovely Riad in coastal Essaouira

Essaouira is a beach resort with a busy fishing harbour, which can be reached by road from Casablanca, Agadir or Marrakech. The town is pervaded with a calm languid atmosphere, reminiscent of its ‘hippy’ days in the 60’s. The woodworker’s art is much in evidence in many small craft shops.

A Relais & Chateaux member, L’Heure Bleue Palais is situated just within the Medina walls with local handicrafts, cafés and restaurants within walking distance. The building itself is over 200 years old and in the past was a palace. It has been completely renovated and opened its doors as a very chic and stylish hotel a few years ago.

ACCOMMODATION

The 33 rooms and themed suites are on three floors set around the central courtyard, all are very comfortable with mini-bar, airconditioning, LCD TV, CD/DVD player, free internet access, free safe, hairdryer, bathrobes and slippers. The Classic rooms have a shower whilst the Junior Suites have a bath and the Suites have a bath and a walk-in shower.

DINING

L’Heure Bleue Palais has a restaurant offering French and Moroccan cuisine with local flavours. We recommend pre-booking the restaurant as it is very popular with locals and guests. Do try some of the local restaurants too – perhaps fresh fish, straight off the boat?

LEISURE FACILITIES & SPA

The property has a salon bar, a DVD library, billiard room, cinema room, spa with two massage rooms, including a massage room on the rooftop terrace with sea and Medina views (reservations recommended) or massages can be arranged in the privacy of your own suite.
