This charming Quinta is situated on a hillside overlooking Funchal to the sea. Formerly a luxurious 18th century family home the Jardins do Lago has been tastefully renovated to a high standard and has quite an historical background.

Surrounded by mature, beautiful botanical gardens that are home to “Colombo” the 53 year- old giant tortoise, this Quinta is ideal for those looking for peace and comfort.

LEISURE FACILITIES

Within the 6.4 acres of garden is a lake and the lovely partially covered large freshwater heated pool, a bistro and children’s heated pool surrounded by mango and banana trees creating a tropical ambience. The views here are over Funchal towards the sea in the distance.

A gym, sauna,Turkish bath, Jacuzzi and children’s playroom are available free for guests use and courtesy transport is offered four times a day, five days a week to the centre of town. Public buses stop nearby too. 30% off green fees at both golf courses and other excellent golf offers for hotel guests.

DINING

The elegant original house is traditionally furnished and houses a cosy bar. The Beresford restaurant (no children under eight years) offers local and international cuisine for dinner whilst breakfast is served in a charming room with a delightful verandah. High tea for children is served in the Pink Room. Lounge areas, a library with free internet access and billiard room are also found here.

ACCOMMODATION

Guest accommodations are mainly in the new wing and include Standard garden view, larger Superior garden view twin rooms and spacious Premier Suites with a separate sitting room whilst high ceilinged Junior Suites, are in the Manor house.

Repeat guests will have Champagne and fruit in rooms and a complimentary dinner (minimum stay seven nights). Creature comforts include sitting area, hairdryer, robes, air-conditioning, cable TV, free internet port, mini-bar and a safe. All balconies, loggia style, are quite private. Each guest room has a marble bathroom, except the Junior Suites which have hand painted tiles.
