It really is a feast for the senses!
The Kingdom of Morocco sits on the Atlantic Coast where it joins the Mediterranean. It is a country with a long and fascinating history as well as a great pride in a rich tradition of art and culture.
One eats well here too thanks to thriving agricultural and fishing industries. We offer the vibrant resort of Marrakech and a selection of country and coastal locations, all of which we know well. We include Essaouira, Oualidia, Agadir and Tangier on the Atlantic coast and Taroudant in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains… something to suit every taste!
The locations we offer:
Marrakech
Marrakech has so many contrasts! The modern city has wide palm lined boulevards, whilst within the old city walls a world of history comes alive. Traditional craftsmen working gold, silver, brass and copper are here to see in the souk. There is an excellent range of restaurants to choose from too. The Koutoubia Mosque dates from the 12th Century and the El Badi Palace from the late 16th Century. From Marrakech excursions include the Atlas Mountains whose snow capped peaks often define the horizon. Don’t miss the Djemaa El Fna, the hub of Marrakech full of music, acrobats, storytellers and snakecharmers. Golfers would enjoy the special arrangements offered by several of our hotels. We have lovely Riads in Marrakech and the super Kasbah Tamadot which is about an hour outside Marrakech.
Riads are, of course, very popular and fashionable at the moment, and it is very easy to see why. Our selection are the best examples we have found so far. They each represent very high levels of service, cuisine and accommodation, but, almost more importantly, they are also stylistically and architecturally very Moroccan. Superbly crafted plasterwork, polished plaster walls, beautifully tiled courtyards, antiques and calm peaceful environments are just some of the striking features that go to make up a Riad experience. Riads also tend to have few guest rooms, so service is very personal. They were originally large homes, very private from the outside world, with a central courtyard and terraces on the flat roof.
We would be delighted to offer advice and any further information to help you make your choice. The Riads are ideal for a shorter or longer stay, which is why we show three and five night prices
Agadir
Agadir is famed for its enormous beach, some 9kms long. As a modern resort it offers an excellent range of entertainments including bars, restaurants (try the port for superb seafood) and folklore.
Essaouira and Oualidia
Why not spend some time on the coast. Essaouira is a beach resort with a small fishing harbour, which can be reached by road from Agadir or Marrakech. The town is pervaded with a calm, languid atmosphere, reminiscent of its ‘hippy’ days in the 60’s. The woodworker’s art is much in evidence in many small craft shops. You will find Essaouira not as intense as Marrakech.
La Sultana Oualidia located on the Atlantic coast is a truly wonderful property uniquely situated on a lagoon sheltered by cliffs, bordered by green pastureland and salt-water marshes. The location is ideal for those who really want to get away from it all and retreat from the outside world.
Being directly on the coast water taxis can be arranged for exploring the local area including the lagoon and the nearby oyster farms.
