The Algarve really is an ideal holiday location with its temperate climate and friendly locals and so much on offer that we cannot mention it all here.  We have listed some of the most popular things to see and do but would be happy to give you more details. Our local team in the Algarve are very knowledgeable and experienced and would be happy to advise you if have not decided on what you would like to do or visit before you go.  The hotels we use have a huge range of facilities on site, so often you don’t have to go far.  But this is a lovely part of Portugal and just getting in the car and going for a drive is a simple but pleasing way to enjoy the Algarve.

The Algarve means golf for many visitors

Golf is synonymous with the Algarve and with about 30 good courses to choose from you will never be more than a hook and a slice away from one.  We list some of the courses that are either linked to one of our hotels or are in the immediate area, there are so many more that if you have a favourite we would be happy to pre book tee times for you,.  As renown courses they do, naturally have all the facilities you would expect but is you require more information please let us know.

Quinta do Lago North and South Courses, San Lorenzo course and Pinheiros Altos, the latter is mostly for members but sometimes we can arrange tee times here. These are the nearest to Quinta do Lago hotel and Le Meridien Dona Felipa

Quinta do Lago North
A well known 18 hole course that plays to Par 72, 6205 metre length, it requires power and accuracy to play the par 5 holes and other holes need precise tee shots to keep your score low.  Designed by William Mitchell and Rocky Roquemore the course is an anti-clockwise loop.

Quinta do Lago South
Also designed by William Mitchell the South course is Par 72 and 6488 metres.  Again an anti-clockwise course and would suit the long hitter and players of all standards.

San Lorenzo

Owned by Le Meridien Don Felipa this course has been regularly voted as one of the best in Europe.  Amid pine trees and lakes the 18 hole, par 72 has stunning scenery which gets better between the 5th and 8th when it overlooks the lovely beaches.  A challenging course that was designed by Joseph Lee that will have you using all your clubs.

Vale do Lobo

Vale do Lobo has two challenging golf courses, the Royal and the Ocean, which have previously hosted the European PGA Tour event, the Portuguese Open. These are the closest to Le Meridien Dona Felipa , apart from their own San Lorenzo course.

Royal Golf Course
Based on drawing made by Sir Henry Cotton the course design was completed by Rocky Roquemore and plays to Par 72. Beautifully located with pine trees, wild flowers and lakes plus the dramatic cliff edge this 18 hole, 6059 metre, course will suit golfers of all levels.

Ocean Golf course
Another 18 holes, but playing to Par 73, this was designed by Sir Henry Cotton as two nine holes originally and were merged in 1995.  With its undulating fairways, and views of the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve and the Atlantic, shaping your shots is the requirement here

Vilamoura area

There are five Oceanico courses here: Oceanico Old Course; Victoira; Millennium; Laguna and Pinhal – all are 18 holes all Par 72 except the Old Course which is Par 73 and all designed by international names.  For more detail do contact us. These are nearest courses to The Lake Resort

Pine Cliffs is part of the Sheraton Algarve

This is a compact 9 hole course with the well known Devil’s Parlour, a challenging Par 3 crossing the stunning red cliffs. This course is in a beautiful location and has fabulous views of the ocean and requires a precise game.  There is a very good academy here too.
Other courses near the Sheraton would be located in the Vilamoura or Albufeira areas.

Carvoeiro area

Quinta do Gramacho and Vale de Pinta Courses, these are the nearest courses to Vila Vita Parc hotel about 25 minutes away, whilst Herdade do Salgados and the Penina Championship courses are about 35 minutes away.

Vale da Pinta Near Carvoeiro, Vale da Pinta is a championship course that can be played by experienced or beginners alike as there are 5 tees for each hole. An 18 hole sister course to the 9 hole Quinta do Gramacho, it was designed by Ronald Fream with wide deep greens and 58 bunkers. It plays to Par 71 (5.861 metres).

Handicap Certificates
All golf courses require a Handicap Certificate to be presented (maximum handicap 28 for men and 36 for women). Some golf courses will require 24/28 and require 27/35. We can advise which.
