Estampas Portenas to appear at the Bermuda Arts Festival 

February

Bermuda Festival continues and this month starts with Banjamin Grosvenor, winner of the 2004 BBC Young Musician of the year, who has appeared with some of the great orchestras of the world and is still only a teenager.
In the middle of the month is the captivating tale of The Man who Planted Trees, told by a dog!  A puppet show with a difference, which is both comical and inspiring and is performed by the Puppet State Theatre.

March

21 March – Good Friday in 2008 – Traditionally on Good Friday Bermudians usually celebrate with a family day out, this includes the well established Kite Flying competition at Horseshoe Bay which also has other family activities.  Fun for all the family.

28 March – 5 April - The Bermuda International Film Festival – recognised by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as a qualifying film festival for the Short Film Academy Awards.  2008 will see the 11th festival take place this has become an important event in its field and in the last few years screened films that later won Academy Awards in the short film and documentary categories. More details will be added as they become available.

April

Bermuda International Invitational Race Week - This event is normally at the end of April beginning of May and is a spectacular yachting event, great to watch – we will post more information when it is released.

May

Bermuda Open Houses & Gardens - May sees the start of the Open House event which includes visits to Bermudian homes and gardens with traditional Bermuda hospitality.  Dates and details have not been released for 2008 yet but these are usually weekly throughout the month.  We will update here when more information is known.

June

20 -28 June 2008 – Newport, Rhode Island to Bermuda classic boat race is a biennial event and is an important race on the boating calendar and worth seeing the arrival of the boats after this 635 mile course.

July

31 July – 1 August 2008 -Cup Match is a very important local event each year and is a Public Holiday weekend in Bermuda. A two day cricket match between the East and West End cricket clubs. This year it is the West End Cricket Club’s (Cricket Lane, Sandy’s) turn to host this annual event, the whole island seems to follow this match.

August

The Beach and Sizzle Fest is the islands way of celebrating the Labour Day weekend and included events such as a Sandsculpting competition (some amazing achievements), a sunset beach party, movies on the beach and more.  We will advise the 2008 activities for this particular Public Holiday weekend as they are announced. Labour Day is Monday 3 September in 2008 so start date should be 31 August.

September

Too early for the 2008 events.

October

1 - 4 October, This years lineup includes Beyonce, Alicia Keyes. UB40 and The Whispers. We shall be adding more information about this years festival in due course.

PGA Grand Slam will be held 13-15 October 2008 in Bermuda again after its success in 2007.  The 2008 PGA Grand Slam of Golf will again be played at the Mid Ocean Club and the host hotel is the Fairmont Southampton.

November

Annual Rugby Classic featuring former International Rugby Players – dates for 2008 not announced yet.

December

Various seasonal events leading up to Christmas – to be updated as they are announced.
