Old Manor house will suit discerning guest…

In 1988 Vivian Read bought a derelict 500 year old Manor house and spent the next 7 years creating a five star hotel with enormous character and an exceptional range of facilities for discerning guests. It is the family that still run the hotel on a day to day basis that makes it special, nothing is too much trouble and the attention to detail is admirable.  Read’s is a Relais & Chateaux member and is surrounded by beautiful countryside.

The nearby small village of Santa Maria is midway between Palma and Inca and a perfect position for exploring the island. The wine producing area of Binisalem is also close by, and, indeed, Read’s have established their own vineyard and wine.

Guests at Read’s are offered 23 beautifully appointed rooms, each different from the others. There are Classic rooms; Deluxe rooms which are a little larger; whilst junior suites are even larger with a terrace and the suites have a separate sitting room also with a terrace. The décor and furnishings are in keeping with the period of the house, but modern comforts include LCD TV, DVD player, CD player, air conditioning/heating, robes and slippers, a hairdryer and a safe. All rooms have views across the landscaped gardens towards the countryside.

Michelin Star dining

Dining is a particular pleasure, Read’s boasts two restaurants, the superb à la carte restaurant with its’ Michelin star and the colourful Bistro 33. Bistro 33 is open for lunch and dinner and has a lovely terrace with super views of the gardens and the mountains. Gala meals are payable locally. The Conservatory Bar, open 24 hours, is a delightful spot for afternoon tea, or pre and post dinner drinks.

If it is exercise you need what about a game of tennis or take out a mountain bike for a couple of hours - there is no charge for either. For a serious workout visit the newly extended gym, then relax again in the Jacuzzi or the sauna. If all that sounds too much, take it easy in the library with books and games, or in one of the two lounges. The outdoor pool surrounded by terraces and the gardens may also tempt you.

For a little pampering Read’s have extended the indoor facilities and created The Vespasian Spa to include an indoor treatment pool, 4 treatment rooms, a couples treatment suite, sensation shower, 3 thermal cabins, hydro-massage pool, ice cave and gym. We have more details please do ask.

There is so much to enjoy at Read’s, including the 5 star service and beautiful Mallorcan countryside. Some guests may wish to hire a car for part of their stay. The hotel is not suitable for children under 12 years old.
