A Traditional Inn with great views
We were thrilled to discover this enchanting 200 year old historic building which has been tastefully converted into a small nine bedroom inn, on the western side of Crete.
Located about 30 minutes drive from the city of Chania and a 5 minute drive from the quiet seaside village of Kolymbari which also has a beach, other beaches nearby are at Falasarna and Balo.
Each of the nine rooms has a character of its own and are individually decorated and furnished with antiques. The rooms have a full bath or a shower, hairdryer, kettle, limited satellite TV and a fridge.
Rural but with great style
The style is rural, rustic and Elia stands on a large farm, on a hillside overlooking a valley of olive groves, the welcome is genuine and warm. Close-by is the oldest olive tree in the world, estimated to be 2500 years old it is a stunning specimen.
Breakfast is an ample buffet, for dinner you can order your favorite dish with 24 hours notice, or choose the daily menu. Eat in the cosy dining room or outside on the terrace under the trees.
Relaxation, walking or exploring
Relaxation is the key here, a place to get away from it all. It is also an excellent walking area with or without a guide and the hotel staff are happy to give advice.
Spa amenities – Sauna, Turkish bath, Jacuzzi, and a therapy room. Ideal for walking, relaxing or exploring this green and fascinating end of the island by hire car.
We will certainly return here for a personal break, maybe combining a stay here with a few days at a resort hotel on the beach at Elounda.
Private taxi transfer from Chania airport – approx 40 minutes
