Casual elegance in Elounda

The words that come to mind when visiting the Elounda Mare are serene tranquility with a strong emphasis on privacy, intimacy, romance, casual elegance and discreet service.

The 36 individual bungalows are the main attraction of this Deluxe category property offering the perfect environment for relaxation. There are deluxe bungalows, or the slightly larger bungalows or 1 or 2 bedroom superior bungalows with a separate sitting room, each has a private seawater pool (heated). The superior bungalows have a better seaview. In addition to the bungalows there are 45 double rooms with balcony or verandah, and suites in the main building. Cots are paid for locally.

Standards of comfort at Elounda Mare are high

Standards of comfort and decor are high and all rooms offer air-conditioning, satellite TV, marble bathroom, hairdryer, bathrobes, slippers, mini-bar, safe, high speed internet and seaviews. Room service is naturally around the clock. Guests will find a welcome gift in rooms on arrival with our compliments

The large heatable seawater pool, with children’s paddling pool and gardens provide ample opportunity for sunbathing or relaxing in a quiet corner. Sunbeds, umbrellas and beach towels are, naturally, provided free.

Water sports include water-skiiing, windsurfing and SCUBA diving

The sandy beach is a pleasant spot too, but for the more sporty guest there is a wealth of water sports here. Water-skiing, windsurfing and S.C.U.B.A. diving all with instruction available, jet-ski, pedaloes, canoes, an artificial grass tennis court (payable), even a yacht or motor boat for hire.

Also available are sauna, steam bath, fitness room. The Six Senses Spa and a 9 hole par 3 golf course are at sister hotel, Porto Elounda (both chargeable), with a free shuttle between the two hotels.

The cuisine is excellent

Restaurants include the Deck for buffet breakfast and table d’hôte or a la carte dinner, the open air Yacht Club by the beach for delicious à la carte lunches, and for dinner on alternate nights with the superb à la carte Old Mill (all require elegant dress code in the evening). Some restaurants are subject to weather conditions.

The main lounge houses the Karavia bar with piano music during the aperitif hour, this is an ideal spot to meet fellow guests. There are smaller lounges too perhaps for a quiet read.

Within the lovely grounds, filled with Bougainvillea, you will find the Cretan square which has shops, a small art gallery and even a small Greek Orthodox Chapel. We can arrange weddings here, a very romantic spot.
