This delightful smaller hotel typifies the ambience of the “real” Algarve
Just a couple of kilometres from the 13th century market town of Estoi, this delightful smaller hotel typifies the ambience of the “real” Algarve. The sea is about 15 minutes away by car.
ACCOMMODATION
The hotel offers privacy with the emphasis on comfort, service and relaxation. There are 18 air-conditioned rooms, comprising very comfortable standard twin rooms with private bathroom, deluxe rooms, junior suites with a sitting area and very spacious well appointed suites. All rooms have DVD/CD player, air-conditioning, tea/ coffee making facilities, safe, mini-bar, hairdryer, bathrobes and a private terrace where breakfast is served each morning.
Some rooms are located in the second building in the delightful grounds and have superb views and a second pool and sitting room. Guests with walking difficulties should request the main building.
DINING
Dining is very important at Monte do Casal! The restaurant and bar were converted from an old coach house and lead on to a secluded terrace with wicker furniture. The British owner Bill Hawkins, offers superb French cuisine including gourmet house specialities, show cooking and food prepared from the hotels smokery. The daily degustation tasting menus with the option of tasting wines with each course, à la carte, table d’hôte and vegetarian menus are all very varied and dishes are prepared to a very high standard.
LEISURE FACILITIES & SPA
The main freshwater pool is surrounded by sun terraces with ample sunbeds and umbrellas. The gardens are quite lovely and well tended and there are two whirlpools for hydro-massage.
A spa has been added in the beautiful gardens with two treatment rooms, a couples treatment
room, private sauna, Jacuzzi and Hammam. The Sanctuary Spa offers a selection of Elemis and Sundari treatments using water as an inspirational source. Cool drinks and spa lunch menus are served everyday.
The “country house” dating from the 18th century is really a home from home and is ideally located to explore the local area by car.
We recommend this superb hideaway hotel which is a member of “The Small Luxury Hotels of the World” for those seeking good personal service and first class food in a very special atmosphere of total relaxation.
The hotel will be closing between 15 December 2011 to 29 February 2012.
